Sky Commits to Satellite Until 2029

Sky, who operate the satellite based Sky Q and internet based Sky Glass/Stream, has committed to offering services via satellite until 2029.

Sky have signed a contract extension with satellite operator SES until 2029, which although only extends the previous agreement by a year, does align Sky with other broadcasters including BBC owned UKTV and shopping channel QVC.

The current Astra 2 satellite cluster is expected to reach end of life around 2029, having been launched been 2012 and 2014 with a predicted 15 year life span.
