BritBox Added to Freesat

The BritBox streaming service has been added to Freesat. The app is now available on the latest generation of 4K compatible receivers. Availability on older devices is not known.

An internet connection is required to use the app.

BritBox allows users to access archive and premium content from the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and Channel 5 on-demand, for a monthly subscription.

Films to be Added To BritBox

BritBox have announced that 25 films will be added to the UK version of the on-demand streaming service on the 17th September (2020).

These will mainly be drawn from the Film4 collection, and include Trainspotting, Sexy Beast and The Inbetweeners Movie.

A further 25 movies are due to be added by the end of this year.

Global Expansion Planned for Britbox

BBC Studios and ITV have revealed plans for how the jointly owned streaming service is to expand globally.

The plans see the platform expanding to up to 25 countries, and seeks to expand the footprint of the service across Europe, Asia, Middle East, South America and Africa.

The service launched initially in the USA and Canada, before launching in the UK in November 2019, boasting the largest collection of UK boxsets. The service is expected to launch in Australia later this year (2020).
